Transgender, a taboo in India ?

Greetings Readers,

First of all I apologise for writing after so long. The good news is, I am writing my first novel but that is why I don’t get enough time to write the articles so often. But here I am.

We live in a world where men and women are considered equal. Where they are doing miracles, achieving extraordinary goals.

But still there is a part of society or I must say nature, which is not doing as great as the men and women. The ” TRANSGENDER “. They are considered improper for the society.

So is transgender a taboo ?

Transgender people are people who experience a mismatch between their gender identity or gender expression, and their assigned sex. Transgender is also an umbrella term which can include people whose gender identity is the opposite of their assigned sex (trans men and trans women), as well as people who are neither exclusively masculine nor exclusively feminine (e.g. people who are genderqueer, bigender, pangender, genderfluid, or agender).Transgender people are sometimes called transsexual if they desire medical assistance to transition. Other definitions of transgender include third-gender people as transgender or conceptualize transgender people as a third gender and infrequently the term is defined very broadly to include cross-dressers.

It doesn’t matter what people define them to be. But for me, they are human beings.

According to Census 2011 ,

Transgender in India

Indian Census had never recognized third gender i.e. Transgender while collecting census data for years. But in 2011, data of Transgender’s were collected with details related to their employment, Literacy and Caste. In India, total population of transgender is around 4.88 Lakh as per 2011 census. The data of Transgender has been cubbed inside “Males” in the primary data released by Census Department. For educational purpose, separate data of Transgender has been curved out from that.

Screen Shot 2016-04-24 at 7.19.16 PM

and the list goes on.  While transgender activists estimate the numbers to be six to seven times higher.

In 2014, the Supreme Court of India legally recognised the transgender community as the “Third Gender”. Prior to the verdict, transgender people were treated as objects of ridicule, prejudice and humiliation who were not only denied their basic human rights but also not recognized as citizens of India. They are also a community negatively stereotyped as eking out a living from begging and commercial sex work.

In India there are a host of socio – cultural groups of transgender people like hijras/ kinnars, and other transgender identities like – shiv-shaktis, jogtas, jogappas, Aradhis, Sakhi, etc. However, these socio-cultural groups are not the only transgender people, but there may be those who do not belong to any of the groups but are transgender persons individually. Though an accurate and reliable estimate of transgender people is not available, it cannot be denied that their number is miniscule compared with the total population of the country.

The transgender community, generally known as “Hijras” in this country, are a section of Indian citizens who are treated by Society as unnaturals and generally as objects of ridicule and even fear on account of superstition. All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and ought to be entitled to enjoyment of human rights without discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. Everyone is entitled to equality before the law and equal protection of the law without any such discrimination. Transgenders are also part of society and have equal, rights as are available to other persons. The discrimination based on their class and gender makes the transgender community one of the most disempowered and deprived groups in Indian society.

Despite of the fact that transgender is a third gender in India. Still a lot of problems are being faced by transgenders in their day-to-day life ie. discrimination, lack of educational facilities, unemployment, lack of shelter, lack of medical facilities like HIV care and hygiene, depression, hormone pill abuse, tobacco and alcohol abuse and problems relating to marriage, property, adoption.

You know why ? Not because of government. But because of us. We haven’t accepted them as a part of society till yet. We still get afraid when we see them at traffic signals asking for money in exchange of blessings. We fear, if we don’t give them money, they will put a curse on us. Why !

Why do we get uncomfortable whenever we see a transgender ? They are as much human being as we are.

But somewhere, the transgender people are also at fault. They are insecure about their identity. They are not proud of themselves. The nature has created us all in a unique way. We should take pride in that.

My latest sketch will demonstrate the conundrum regarding transgender in our Indian society.

We all are beautiful. We all are proud to have this amazing life. Like this wolf, which is beautiful, bold, aggressive yet patient at the same time. It knows, how to love, how to protect, how to attack. But it is chained. The chains of insecurity, lack of social identity, discrimination, low self esteem have seized the beautiful wolf to express itself.

The wolf is a metaphor for transgender here. You all are beautiful. Break all the chains and free yourself from the orthodox lifestyle. You are not meant to live an inexorable or prewritten lifestyle like a witless ritual. You are meant to write your own destiny and live your life in an extraordinary way to change this world and make it a better place to live in.

I would request everyone to stop following the discriminative trends set up by this hypocrite world.

” Transgender is not a taboo. So stop making it one. “

I can only URGE ! The power is in your hands, the change starts with you. YOU ARE THE CHANGE.
When you will become a change , you will change the world for a better place to live in.
Its a long journey but every journey starts with one step.
Aim to protect the transgender.
Act within time and when needed to say no discrimination to them.

Achieve the happiness.

Dowry – a villainous still exists

Greetings Readers,

We live in a world where science is doing miracles, people are doing extraordinary and nature is doing incredible things, well nature has always done incredible things since the beginning.

But still a lot of evil practices prevail in the world. The most traumatising fact about these practices is that they are not practices anymore , they have become our life styles , they have become us.

One such practice is Dowry.

” A dowry is a transfer of parental property at the marriage of a daughter. Dowry contrasts with the related concepts of bride price and dower “
But according to me DOWRY only means a system to destroy marriages.
Well, there are two type of people in INDIA , one who demand for DOWRY and one who don’t demand for dowry. Right ?
As I said , dowry is no more a practice , it has got so much into our lives that it has become us.
So whether you demand it or not , still its in the practice. In India , we see and attend a lot of marriages and we often see in our family, how ceremonies are done and a lot of cash and other expensive gifts are given to the bridegroom and to his family members.
Because it is how we celebrate the marriage and ceremonies.
People who demand for dowry are the worst, they harass the bride sexually, mentally, physically and torture her to bring money, expensive gifts, property and valuables from her family for them.
One woman dies every hour due to dowry related reasons on an average in the country, which has seen a steady rise in such cases between 2007 and 2011, according to official data.
National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) figures state that 8,233 dowry deaths were reported in 2012 from various states. The statistics work out to one death per hour.
The number of deaths under this category of crime against women were 8,618 in 2011 but the overall conviction rate was 35.8 per cent, slightly above the 32 per cent conviction rate recorded in the latest data for 2012.
The NCRB statistics show that 91,202 dowry deaths were reported in the country from January 1, 2001 to December 31 2012.
A State wise break-up provided in the statistics show that the highest incidence of dowry deaths was in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. During the period, 23,824 dowry deaths were reported in U.P. and 19,702 sent for trial. In Bihar 13,548 cases were reported during the period and 9,984 sent for trial.
In general, the custom of dowry imposes a financial burden upon families with daughters that can be especially heavy when the family has few or no sons who might themselves attract wives with dowries.Dowry had disappeared from most of Europe by the beginning of the twentieth century, but remains a common practice in south Asia, specially India.
In India, marriage is a bond between two families , not just two souls. Thats what we have heard and we believe, WRONG !
A marriage is supposed to be a bond between two souls only. But due to socio-cultural reasons we are forced to think that way. We often seek the marriage to happen between the same status.
Financially, socially and even CASTE !
But seriously , CASTE ? Why people are so bothered about caste or money ! This is why Inter caste marriages in most parts of the India is still a dream. Such a hypocrite society to live in.
We see a lot of politicians speaking about poverty, development, security. But why no one is talking about dowry. We talk about educating people , as education is the key to eliminate and eradicate every demonic practices.
But mostly the educated people are concerned about their social status. This is the segment of the society which doesn’t think about taking dowry but still it is practiced.
Why every parent of a daughter thinks about marriage as a burden to their pockets , why it is always a concern to think about getting a lot of things done in a marriage to match the status of others in the society.
All the expenses of the marriage and its functions should be take care of by the 2 partners. They are getting married , they must do it, no one else. Spend and make arrangements according to your pocket and savings. You don’t need to show others how was your marriage. Its is not theirs , but yours. The closed friends and family members must be a part of it , but the families shouldn’t be forced to bear any financial obligations.
The marriage is for getting united , not to show people that you have money or you can spend it on your children.
We specially the Males, who are young and educated need to take an oath that we don’t ask from our future wife or her family members to bear any cost of marriage or the ceremonies. You and her will sit, discuss and plan your wedding and only you two will bear the expenses.
Lets not make marriage a business or deal. It is meant to be a sacred way of getting two should united for lifetime.

ay No to Dowry.

Books can be written about dowry; a blog is simply too short. But isn’t it time we got young people angry again? Most of the people and social service activists who’ve fought for decades are tired. We need young blood to use the internet to restart the campaigns.

I can only URGE ! The power is in your hands, the change starts with you. YOU ARE THE CHANGE.
When you will become a change , you will change the world for a better place to live in.
Its a long journey but every journey starts with one step.

Aim to Protect your future wife

Act within time and when needed to say no to dowry

Achieve the safety, happiness of your beloved and a prosperous happy married life.

I will marry a non-virgin girl , will you ?

Greetings Readers,

We live in a world where a lot of species prevail and the most amazing among them are the women.

They are lovely, caring , beautiful , understanding. They give you the best memories of your lives and the warmest hugs.. They will be always there whenever you need them.

But deep down , we all have secrets , So do they. They are afraid to share it because they feel people will start judging them. We promise them that we won’t.
So they share their heart out.

There you go, she has just shared one of the deepest secret she has, She is not a VIRGIN.
Yeah she isn’t.

But why are you feeling like she is going to kill you because she is not a virgin.

well, trust me. She won’t kill you. Haha !

Now she has trusted you and told you her secret. But hey why have you started ignoring her text ? Oh you must be busy , never mind. Reply whenever you will find time.

But why does it happen when she tells you that she is not a virgin, People start judging her and most of the men don’t want to get married to them.

Yes people change. They feel all broken. They don’t feel like trusting anyone anymore.

“WE” who call ourselves educated are so blindfolded by the Taboo and Orthodox thinking of our society. That we don’t feel comfortable going to a chemist to buy a condom. We don’t feel comfortable in talking about SEX in public.
We judge people on these things. WHY ?

Is having sex a crime ? Is talking about your sexual desires and fantasies a crime ?
Why girls get ready to get married to non-virgin men, but we boys fail to do so.

No, I won’t let you go.
Everyone has secrets, everyone enjoys their lives. We must not judge anyone on these criteria.

In fact it is an advantage to marry a non-virgin partner.

You guys won’t be making love for the first time in your lives, so you both are experienced now. You won’t feel nervous on your special night.
The bond of trust and friendship you both will develop , will last forever. Because you know each other in and out, there are no secrets left to hide.

All she wants is love not a judgement.

You give her the love she deserves and longs for. You will be the happiest person in this world. You have her, the most beautiful and important part of your life after your mother.

She will keep you happy forever.

All you need to do is TRUST her, RESPECT her the way she is and most important – LOVE her, make her feel special.

So stand against the odds, stand against the world. What the society thinks, it doesn’t matter , what matters is her. Fight the hypocrite world.
She is worth fighting for, she is worth standing against the world.

If you love her , she is the one. Stop judging her. She will become yours forever.

YES,  I will marry a non-virgin girl, but will you ?

#Peace #Love

Worth Dying ?? @Mumbai Local Train

Greetings from The Hypocrite World ,

Is it worth Dying to board a train ?
Mumbai or New York, it doesn’t matter. What matters, is the lives being claimed by trains or subways in day to day life.

The sources tell us an average of nine persons lost their lives daily due to accidents, suicides or natural deaths while on the move in suburban Mumbai Railway, the lifeline of the country’s financial capital in 2015.

Yesterday , a young boy , 21 years old lost his life after falling from a running Mumbai local.

Here comes the real question ? Who killed him ?

Was it the public , or the local train or he, himself ?
The ugly truth is they all were equally guilty. I have personally travelled in Mumbai local during my stay in Mumbai. But the alarming issue is the gates . If Mumbai local or our Indian Railways would have closed doors like Delhi Metro, these type of fatal accidents could have been prevented.

Why commuters turned so selfish and ignorant in the video ? He was continuously asking them to shift inside as he was loosing grip. But people were making fun of him and his own friend was making his video.

Wasn’t it his fault ? He could have left the train and could have come in a crowed train but inside not hanging like a pendulum. Or was it a style statement to travel like a PRO. Whatever the reasons are , we can’t neglect the desolate fact that he lost his life and left his family in deep torment.

The same deaths used to happen in Delhi when previous DTC buses used to run. But after Marocpolo buses whose gates get closed have resulted in significant decrement of fatal cases like these.

Our government should also take essential steps to safeguard the commuters from these type of accidents.
But the most important step has to be taken by us. Lets pledge and act sensible.

Never travel in this fashion , risking your life for any reason. Neither let anyone else travel like this. Don’t act as an audience and watch the DEATH  play its course.

ACT  sensible , AIM to save life  , ACHIVE greatness.

Intolerance Vs Tolerance @INDIA

Greetings from The Hypocrite World ,

Rise Above #Tolerance and #Intolerance .

I am writing my first blog in deep agony due to the reactions over Tolerance & Intolerance in INDIA.

There are celebs who are not feeling safe with high security provided to them. There are political parties which are dividing our country over religion & caste. A reward of One Lakh Rupees was announced to slap Aamir Khan.
I mean , seriously ? What is happening to our country.People are dying cos of starvation, terrorists , diseases.
No body is giving a damn about those 35% Indians who are below poverty line, or to those remote areas where people actually don’t know that there is something known as Electricity and Filter Water exist. We live in a world full of hypocrisy. We can watch a girl groaning in acute pain & distress on road for hours after getting raped. But will never teach our generation about Sex Education.
We can go on a candle light march at India Gate, but will never support Rape Victims.
90% rape victims loose their social life after the worst nightmare they can ever get. A student girl victim whose MMS got leaked had to leave the country due to shame because our society didn’t look upto her the same way it used to before the incident.
Why our government feels Banning the Porn Sites is a vital solution ? Rather than banning the politicians who make absurd comments on Women, Religion or on Poor everyday.
Its we , who are at Fault. Yes We.
We are giving them the right to manipulate our minds.
” When a man standing on a road watching the sky , seems crazy to all and When few people start gazing the sky makes sense to us that Oh ! There must be something happening over there “
Don’t let a bunch of politicians or bollywood celebrities or the media to make us think  who we are or what is India.
Search, Read and Learn about Indian Heritage & Indian Civilisation.
Don’t make comments on any religion or at any particular section of our society.
” Right to Speak ” should not be vested till a particular section of the society or organisation.
Right to speak should be vested to the underprivileged also. They should be also heard. The government should make efforts to eradicate poverty, increase security, stop human trafficking, prevent & cure diseases, rather than fighting with other political parties.

So stop the chaos and stop dividing the nation over #Tolerance or #Intolerance.

Work and make efforts to make the World A Better Place To Live In.
